A Jyotirlinga or Jyotirlingam is a devotional representation of the Hindu god Shiva. The word Jyoti is a Sanskrit compound of 'radiance' and linga. The Shiva Mahapurana (also Shiva Purana) mentions 64 original Jyotirlinga temples in India and Nepal, of which 12 are the most sacred and are called Maha Jyotirlingam (Great Jyotirlinga).
First of all, I would like to give information about the Jyotirlingas located in Gujarat state.

  1. Somnath is traditionally considered to be the first pilgrimage site: the twelfth Jyotirlinga pilgrimage begins from the Somnath temple. The temple, which was destroyed and rebuilt sixteen times, is celebrated with reverence all over India and is rich in legend, tradition and history. It is located at Prabhas Patan (Somnath - Veraval) in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat state in western India.

  2. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga shrines mentioned in the Shiva Purana and the Dvādaśa Jyotirliṅga Stotram, says one of the jyotirlinga namely Nagesh is situated in Daruka-Vana and most probably the present day Dwarka region. Other claims to the Nagesh Jyotirlinga status come from - Aundha Naganath (Hingoli District of Maharashtra) and Jageshwar (Almora District of Uttarakhand)
